// Intro

What it actually is.

A Digital Health Check is the first stage of how I work — a plain-English picture of where your digital presence sits today, graded in everyday language (not service jargon) across seven pillars, from whether the right people can find you right through to whether your setup is safe and properly yours. It comes with loose starting-point recommendations.

I run Health Checks first so you don't spend on the wrong thing first. A solid base to start from, instead of guessing.

You walk away with the Digital Health Check PDF. Yours to keep, whether you work with me afterwards or not. The whole point is that the document is useful even if you and I never speak again.

// Chooser

Two ways to do this — pick what fits.

The Free version

What's included:

  • +A free Digital Health Check using publicly available data
  • +A 45-60 minute walkthrough on the call
  • +The PDF to keep
// Who is this for?

// Right for

  • +Anyone wanting a first look at where their digital presence sits, before committing money to fix it.
  • +Charities, NFPs, and small businesses without budget for a paid audit.
  • +Anyone who'd prefer a conversation first, then decide whether to go deeper.

// Skip if

  • You already have a recent (within six months) third-party Health Check or audit you trust.
  • You know the specific issue you want help with and want to go straight to a quote (book the call anyway; I'll route accordingly).

The In-Depth version

What's included:

  • +Login-data depth (GA4 · Search Console · Google Ads · Meta · LinkedIn as relevant)
  • +The service-line deep-dive choices you make below
  • +The same walkthrough call
  • +A longer PDF
// Who is this for?

// Right for

  • +Anyone about to spend meaningful money on web, paid ads, AI search work, or SEO, who wants a login-data picture first.
  • +Anyone who's tried agency-led marketing before and wants an independent read on what's actually happening in their accounts.
  • +Anyone who needs a written read on where they stand to brief an internal team or another vendor.

// Skip if

  • You don't have a website yet — there's nothing for me to read into (start with a Build & Launch conversation).
  • You're not running paid ads, SEO, or AI search-relevant content — the In-Depth depth pays off when there are accounts to analyse.

// Pick your service-lines, see live pricing, then book — your selection auto-fills the booking notes.

// Pillars

The seven pillars.

The Health Check grades your digital presence against seven pillars in plain language — not service categories. Each pillar gets a grade in the PDF, with the specific finding behind it.

Findability & Local Presence

Can the right people find you — in search, on the map, and when AI tools get asked?

Clarity & Content Usefulness

Do visitors quickly get what you do and whether you're right for them?

Trust & Credibility

Do the right people trust you when they land?

Enquiry, Booking, Donation & Member Path

Can someone who's interested actually take the next step without getting stuck?

Accessibility & Page Experience

Can people actually use your site — on a phone, quickly, without barriers?

Measurement & Decision Readiness

Can you tell what's working, instead of guessing?

Safety, Privacy, Access & Handover

Is your setup safe, owned properly, and something you could hand on if you needed to?

How the grades
work.

No numbers — each pillar lands on one of five plain grades:

// Grade // What it means for you
Poor Something here is actively costing you opportunities right now. Worth looking at first.
Fair It works, but real gaps are holding your results back.
Good Solid. Nothing's broken, and there's clear room to improve.
Strong Working well. Only small gains left to find.
Excellent Genuinely leading. Little to add.

Each grade comes with the findings underneath it — the specific things that earned it, plus a plain starting point. You always see the working, not just the verdict.

The free version's
honest cap.

The free Health Check works only from what's visible from the outside — your public website, search results, Google Business Profile, social profiles. That's an honest, useful picture, and it covers all seven pillars.

But some things just aren't visible from the outside: whether your tracking is actually recording real enquiries, whether you can tell what's genuinely working, whether the right access and ownership sit behind the scenes. Those depend on what's inside your accounts. For anything in that bucket, the free version gives you an honest read from the public side and flags where a proper look inside would confirm it — so a finding might read “on public evidence this looks Strong; confirming whether it's genuinely leading would mean a look inside your analytics, search, and conversion data — that's the In-Depth version.”

Claiming a top grade off data I can't actually see would be guesswork dressed up as a finding, so I won't. The In-Depth version is where I get that look inside — not a better Health Check, just a deeper one, for the parts the outside view can't reach.

// Process

How it works.

  1. 01

    Book

    Pick a 45-minute slot via the calendar. The booking form asks for your name, email, phone, business name, and website. If you've ticked deep-dives in the In-Depth version above, your selection is auto-filled into the booking notes — edit it before submitting if anything's off.

  2. 02

    Review

    Before the call, I run the Health Check at the depth you chose. For the In-Depth version, I'll send instructions for granting read-only access to the platforms relevant to your ticks (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.) plus a short intake questionnaire (your goals, current challenges, what you've tried).

  3. 03

    Meet

    On the 45-minute call, I walk you through the Health Check findings — pillar by pillar, grades visible — plus a quick what-to-do-first summary. No hard sell.

  4. 04

    Report

    You get the PDF after the call. Yours to keep, whether you work with me further or not.

// Patterns

What a Health Check might surface.

Sample finding-shapes — illustrative, not specific to any client. These aren't case studies; they're the kinds of patterns that come up across many businesses. Yours will look different.

// TRACKING

Conversion tracking installed but not firing on form submit, so the business has been flying blind on which campaigns are actually working.

// GBP

A Google Business Profile claimed but no posts in 14 months, missing categories, and the wrong opening hours during the holiday season.

// PIXEL

A Meta Pixel firing the same purchase event twice, doubling reported revenue and corrupting audience targeting.

// ADS

Google Ads bidding on broad-match terms wasting around 40% of spend on irrelevant searches, with no negative-keyword discipline.

// BRAND

Strong branded search demand on the business name, with no campaign defending it — competitors paying to bid on it.

// PLUGINS

A WordPress site with eleven plugins, three of them outdated, all of them slowing the site down on mobile.

// AI

A site invisible in ChatGPT and Perplexity results for the most relevant business questions, despite ranking on Google.

// What it won't

What it won't do.

It won't give you a finished plan of attack — that's the Strategic Digital Roadmap (Stage 3), a separate paid follow-up I recommend conversationally on the call after the Health Check has been delivered, when it makes sense.

It won't tell you whether the agency you've been working with is genuinely bad or just badly briefed — that's a separate conversation, usually one I have on the In-Depth walkthrough.

And it won't surface things only your team would know (commercial priorities, internal politics, what you've already ruled out).

The Health Check shows you where you stand digitally; the rest of the picture lives with you.

// Fit

Who this is best for.

// Best for

  • Small business owners, charity directors, and sports committee chairs in Australia who want an honest read on where their digital presence sits today.
  • Anyone about to spend money on web, paid ads, AI search work, or SEO and wants a solid base to start from, instead of guessing.
  • Charities, NFPs, and sports clubs — the 25% charity rate applies on the In-Depth version, verified via ABN at intake. See the charity callout below.

// Not right if

  • You want an aggressive growth-hacking pitch.
  • You want a template-shaped audit with no conversation.
  • You're under $1,000/month ad spend on Paid Search or Paid Social and that's not changing — I'd waste your money.

// Examples

A few example engagements.

Invented but realistic — composites of the kind of work this business is built to do. Frame: "the kind of engagement an SMB owner might have", not testimonials.

// SHAPE 01

A four-person plumbing business in Geelong

Wants more local jobs. Website is five years old, the Google Business Profile is half-finished, spending $1,200/month on Google Ads through an agency that hasn't sent a report in three months.

  • // In-Depth configuration: foundation + Web Design + Paid Search deep-dives (3 service-lines, no bundle discount) = $700 ex-GST.
  • // What I'd find: site slow on mobile, GBP with wrong opening hours, conversion tracking not installed, Google Ads bidding on broad-match wasting around 40% of spend.
  • // Next steps (Stages 3 + 4): Strategic Digital Roadmap recommended on the call (separate paid follow-up); Build & Launch — website redesign + GBP + Google Ads rebuild. Ongoing Looked After at the Standard tier for monthly support.
  • // Total first-year investment: in the order of $25,000-$30,000 ex-GST, depending on scope, plus the business's own ad spend paid directly to Google.

// SHAPE 02

A small environmental charity in regional Victoria

Volunteer-run, tight budget, ACNC-registered. WordPress site nobody can update, no analytics, candidate for a Google Ad Grant.

  • // In-Depth configuration: foundation + Web Design + Paid Search deep-dives (3 service-lines) — pre-charity-rate $700 → $525 ex-GST (charity rate applied, 25% off).
  • // What I'd find: no analytics installed, no conversion tracking, Google Ad Grant eligible but never applied for, WordPress site with five outdated plugins.
  • // Next steps (Stages 3 + 4): Strategic Digital Roadmap recommended on the call (charity rate applies); Build & Launch — WordPress → Astro migration + GA4 setup + Google Business Profile verification + Google Ad Grant application + campaign build. Ongoing Looked After at the Light tier (charity rate applied).
  • // Total first-year investment: in the order of $13,000-$15,000 ex-GST (charity rate applied), plus the Google Ad Grant — up to USD $10,000 per month, which costs them nothing.

// SHAPE 03

A six-person professional-services firm in Melbourne

Wants an inbound pipeline that doesn't depend on the founders' personal networks. Established business, real revenue, no in-house marketing person.

  • // In-Depth configuration: foundation + all four deep-dives (Web Design + AI Search & GEO + Paid Search + Paid Social) = $1,065 ex-GST (10% bundle discount applied — all four add-ons ticked).
  • // What I'd find: site lightly maintained, search visibility shallow for non-branded terms, AI-search invisibility on the questions buyers actually ask, Google Ads spending without a tracking audit, no Paid Social presence at all.
  • // Next steps (Stages 3 + 4): Strategic Digital Roadmap recommended on the call (broader scope — four channels); Build & Launch — website refresh + tracking + GBP + Google Ads + Meta Ads + LinkedIn setup. Ongoing Looked After at the Comprehensive tier for cross-channel support.
  • // Total first-year investment: a larger commitment than the two shapes above — scoped on the call against revenue + capacity, not from a website price list.

// FAQ

Common questions.

Why is SEO & Analytics the mandatory foundation?
Because it's the foundation everything else gets measured on. Paid campaigns can't track conversions without the analytics setup; web design changes can't be measured without baseline analytics; AI search visibility can't be tracked without the schema and crawler-access fundamentals. Skip the foundation and the deep-dives can't tell you whether what you're doing is working.
What's the difference between the Free version and the In-Depth version?
The Free version uses publicly available data — site performance, public SEO signals, AI search visibility (manual queries), Google Business Profile public view, social presence. No account access needed. The In-Depth version adds login-data depth across the platforms you've ticked in the In-Depth picker above — analytics + Google Ads + Meta + LinkedIn as relevant. Both deliver the same call shape; the In-Depth version carries more depth in the PDF.
Do I have to give you account access?
Only if you've ticked deep-dives in the In-Depth version. The Free version needs no access. The In-Depth version uses read-only access — no admin or write permissions, revocable anytime.
What's the Strategic Digital Roadmap, and do I need it?
The Strategic Digital Roadmap is a separate paid follow-up after a Health Check, when it makes sense. The Health Check tells you where you stand; the Strategic Digital Roadmap (Stage 3) is the sequenced plan that decides what to do next, in what order, with budget shape and what-to-skip-and-why. It's sold conversationally on the call after I've delivered the Health Check, when I recommend it — never as a tickbox on this page. Some people only need the Health Check; others want the Roadmap straight after.
Can I take the PDF and brief someone else with it?
Yes. The Digital Health Check PDF is yours to keep, whether you work with me afterwards or not. If you'd rather brief your in-house team, another agency, or a freelancer, the PDF is plain enough that they'll be able to act on it without needing me. That's the point.
How long does it take?
The Free version takes around 45-60 minutes of my time before the call, then the 45-minute call. The In-Depth version scales with what you've ticked — booking to delivery usually within one to two weeks.
What happens after the Health Check?
You get the PDF and the call. From there it's your decision: act on the recommendations yourself, hand the report to someone else, jump into Build & Launch with me, or just sit on it for a few months. No commitment, no pressure.
